The Rapids Peewee A took home silver medals from the 2020
London Devilettes tournament this past weekend.
After finishing first in their pool after round-robin play, the team defeated
Barrie 4-0 in the quarter-finals and Detroit Belle Tire 2-0 in the semi-finals. In the championship game, they ran into a
very strong Markham-Stouffville team that defeated them 4-0. Despite the tough loss, it was another
impressive tournament showing for the team.
In four tournaments this year, they reached the finals each time, with
the team bringing home two gold and two silver medals. They’ll look to continue what has been a
strong season when they open Lower Lakes playoffs next week. - T.J. Lloyd

The Peewee
A Rapids took home a second straight tournament gold medal, completing a
five-game sweep to win the Buffalo Inferno tournament this weekend. After winning their three round-robin games,
the girls beat Lehigh Valley in the semis before finishing with a dominant 8-0
win over the Connecticut Jr. Rangers in the gold-medal game. The team didn’t give up a goal all weekend,
with Anna Corfield and Angelina Berardi combining for five shutouts. The girls did a great job of playing team
hockey, moving the puck and spreading the scoring. They will try to carry their momentum into
Lower Lakes games next weekend. – T.J. Lloyd

The Peewee
A Rapids capped an undefeated weekend by taking the gold medal at the Pink the
Rink tournament in Etobicoke. After two
wins and a tie in the round-robin portion, the Rapids defeated Leaside 5-1 in
the quarterfinals and London 4-1 in the semi-finals. In the final, they became the first team this
season to defeat Stoney Creek, winning 2-1 behind goals from Easton Fournier
and Emily Kondejewski and outstanding goaltending from Anna Corfield. The team went 5-0-1 for the weekend,
outscoring opponents 25-7. It was a
great team performance all weekend with everyone contributing, one that we hope
to continue in league play next weekend. – T.J. Lloyd
