Midget A, 2018-2019 (Niagara Girls Hockey Association)

The Rapids Midget A team have earned their second tournament silver medal this season. The team traveled up the QEW to compete in the St. Catharines Jr. Badgers annual tournament. The girls defeated Ottawa 2-1 in the opening game, dropping a 4-2 decision to Brampton in game 2. The team added another win against Vaughan 2-1, Saturday morning. In a must win, game four, against host St. Catharines, the Rapids persevered with a 3-1 victory.

The Midget A Rapids captured silver at the Fall Classic in Niagara Falls. The team went 3-0-1 in round robin play defeating Mississauga 2-0, Barrie 1-0, Whitby 4-0, and tieing Etobicoke, 1-1 to advance to the final. The girls were eventually defeated 1-0 by Barrie in the championship game. Led by goaltender Kaydra Corney, the team played an excellent defensive system all five games. The team would like to recognize all of our fans who supported us this weekend. Congrats Rapids!

The Midget A Rapids just completed a successful training camp Training Camp

Rapids teammates Kayla Persinger and Paige Donald recently attended the Penn State Elite Hockey Camp. The girls got to experience campus life first hand as they were given dorm rooms, meal cards, and a busy itinerary. Kayla and Paige were on the ice several times a day, participating in high speed and skill practices, powerskating and ex games. The girls also attended workshops on team building, nutrition and sports psychology as well as a campus tour. Kayla and Paige would like to thank the Penn State female hockey program for a great experience.
