CONGRATS TO OUR U13BB TEAM FOR BRINGING HOME THE GOLD!
Our U13BB Rapids traveled to Orangeville this past weekend and came back Gold Medal Winners!
It was a very competitive tournament that started off with a tough 4-0 loss to Oakville in their opening game. The girls bounced back with a string of wins past Southpoint Stars 2-1; Orangeville Tigers 3-0; Orangeville again in the semi-final 2-0.
This set up another rematch with Southpoint in the Championship game. A very tense game that had the girls pushing hard for an opening goal only to have the Southpoint goalie turn away numerous shots! Southpoint would take the lead late in the 3rd period with 2:31 left. The Rapids continued to push with the extra attacker and were rewarded with the equalizer just over a minute later that sent the game to overtime.
In OT it was back and forth action that had both teams pressing for the winner and with 1:06 left on the clock the Rapids scored the game winner to claim the Orangeville Sweetheart Tournament Gold Medal!
